Art at Marlborough

Artist of the Month

At Marlborough, we believe that every child is an artist with their own unique creativity to share. Our monthly Art Competition is a celebration of creativity, inspiration, and imagination. Each month we focus on a different artist, exploring their style, techniques, and influence before challenging our pupils to create their own masterpieces.

Winning entries will be showcased here on our website, alongside a gallery of all the fantastic artwork submitted. We are proud to celebrate the talents of our young artists and look forward to sharing their creativity with the whole school community.

- December 2025

In December, we are focusing on the Japanese artist Kotaro Machiyama.

Kotaro Machiyama is known for his abstract, vibrant artwork that explores bold shapes, striking forms, and bright colours. His paintings often use geometric and flowing designs to create a sense of imagination and wonder, encouraging viewers to see the world in new and creative ways. Rather than depicting realistic scenes, his work focuses on colour, composition, and the emotions that shapes and forms can convey.

This month, we invite pupils to explore Machiyama’s unique style and experiment with shapes, forms, and confident colour choices to create their own Machiyama-inspired masterpiece.

All entries should be handed in to Mrs Perez-Diaz in Violet Class by Friday 19th December. The competition will be judged by our Year 6 Art Leaders when we return to school in January.
